- Double elimination 32 team men’s slow-pitch softball tournament
- Games are scheduled every 50 minutes. It is the manager’s responsibility to have a minimum of 9 players to start the game. Teams not having 9 players will have a 5 minute grace period. If after the 5 minutes and a team still does not have nine players you forfeit the game. MANAGERS, WE RUN A TIGHT SCHEDULE AND WILL NOT MAKE ANY EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE! WE WILL APPRECIATE YOU HAVING YOUR TEAM AT YOUR SCHEDULED DIAMOND 15-MINUTES PRIOR TO YOUR GAME TIME.
- Games will be 7 innings long or 50 minutes. No new inning will begin after 50 minutes, unless the game is tied.
- A 10 run rule after 5 innings of play will be in effect for all non-money games. Money games are the games a team actually gets payment of cash after the completion of the game.
- Home Run Rule: Our tournament allows each team to hit a total of 4 home runs per game. Any ball hit out of the park after the team’s 4th home run will be an out. Inside the park home runs will not count against the 4 home run rule.
- A batter is only allowed one swing, if on the batters swing the ball is foul the batter is out. Three balls is a walk, 2 called strikes is an out.
- Home plate and a mat will be used as the strike zone.
- Pitching arc is 6 feet to 12 feet from the ground.
- Metal Spikes are not allowed.
- Teams are allowed to bat 11.
- Courtesy steps are not allowed.
- Re-entry rule—this rule allows a removed player to re-enter the game only if another player has suffered an injury and cannot continue competition in that game and only if there is no other player available.
- Players participate in this tournament at their own risk. Players must slide or get out of the base path in close plays or double plays. Failure to do so will result in interference. The umpires have the right to remove any player from the game, whom he feels tried to harm another player. The player may also be banned from participating in the rest of the tournament.
- Darien Corn Festival is a family event! A player will receive one warning from the umpire if that umpire feels the player is using excessive profanity. If after the warning the profanity continues that player will be removed from the game. The player may be banned from the rest of the tournament.
- Any player removed from the game due to violations in #13 & #14 must immediately leave the playing field area as well as the immediate spectator area. The umpire will direct the manager as to where the removed player can observe the game. If the player refuses to obey the umpires ruling and directions their team may be required to forfeit that game.
- Any rule not specifically mentioned will be ruled per ASA interpretations.
- We do not check rosters. However if it comes to our attention that a team has used a player who has already played for another team and the opposing team brings this to my attention within 15 minutes after completion of the game the violating team will be issued a forfeit.
- No infield practice after the 1st inning. Warm up pitches will be limited to 3 after the 1st inning. Umpires will determine the number of warm up pitches in the 1st inning.
- We have 2 softball diamonds and 1 hardball diamond we use for this tournament. All 3 diamonds have cyclone fencing around the outfield. To get this tournament in we must play some games on the hardball diamond. The hardball diamond is lighted, so in the event of rain on Saturday we will schedule games Saturday night to catch up. We will also use diamonds in the City of Delavan if we need to get back on schedule in the event of rain.
- We do not have time and will not allow any protests. Please discuss with the umpires prior to your game on what appeals players may make.
- Typically the tournament schedule will fall behind. Be prepared to play late in the evening on both Saturday and Sunday.
- Thank you for participating in this year’s tournament. Good Luck!
